#7 Vet in Cirencester, Gloucestershire
Ashcroft Veterinary Surgery is described in reviews as a small practice with a calm, clean waiting environment and a helpful front-desk team. Owners mention the clinic handling both routine procedures (for example, kitten spays) and more major surgery (one cat’s eye removal, with the outcome described as “tidy and clean work”). Recent feedback is mostly positive, but there is also a detailed complaint about end-of-life care: one owner felt the vet’s manner during euthanasia wasn’t compassionate, and reported poor communication and a long wait (nearly 6 weeks) to receive ashes after cremation.

Friendly vets with great service

I have used this surgery for the past 15½ years with my dog. Throughout his life they were excellent, providing great levels of care. However, the time came that all of us dread and it was time for my boy to say goodbye. We made an appointment (which we had to wait an additional day for unless we wanted to travel to another branch). When we arrived the vet was not compassionate to the situation, he had a fairly joking manner to him which we did not appreciate in our emotional state, saying goodbye to a member of our family. We were told it would be about 2 weeks for my boys ashes to be ready for collection. But after this time period had passed we had not heard anything from the surgery. I rang to question what the delay was, in which I was told the company that does the cremations had had delays due to broken equipment and it would be an additional 2 weeks (would have been nice if they informed me of this before I had to chase them). Once again the 2 week period had passed and still no contact from the surgery. I again rang them the ask what was happening in which they said it shouldn't be much longer. I finally got a call saying he was ready to be collected just short of 6 weeks after he had passed. When I arrived to collect, the member of staff that we spoke to was very cold and not considerate to the situation, she placed the bag with his box of ashes in on the counter and simply replied with stating the price of what we owed, no condolences or apology for the long delay and lack of communication. I'm very disappointed with how my boys end of life had been handled after they had been so good with him throughout his time with us.

We have been using Ashcroft Vets in Cirencester for our 2 cats for over 13 years, with both cats getting up to no good on occasion. Bowie recently had to have his eye removed, and the team at Ascroft have been absolutely amazing and supportive. Bowie looks just as handsome thanks to the tidy and clean work. Really recommend this wonderful vet surgery.

Incredible vets! I'm so impressed with this lovely small vet practice and their kind, helpful reception team. It's a calm, welcoming environment to walk into, feels really safe and well kept/ clean, and I completely trusted my kittens would be very well taken care of (which they were!) when they came in for their spay today. Thank you!

Always helps to make the visit that bit easier when the people are all so friendly and helpful. Not sure the cat appreciated the high quality service and care he got - but we did! Thank you.

Such a great Team here, Stephen is very caring, knowledgeable and professional. The girls on the front desk are superb as well. They all take great on my cats. One has to have a grooming session twice a year due to an accident and he always comes out looking so smart :)
