B&W Equine Group Ltd is an equine-only practice with an Equine Hospital and a Stud and Insemination Centre, offering both routine care and more advanced investigations (for example, lameness work-ups and gastroscopy). The clinic states it provides 24/7 emergency care. Recent reviews include multiple positive comments about stud/insemination work and one detailed account praising a vet (named Sally) for fitting in a “squeezed in” appointment and explaining ongoing options; however, there are also detailed 1‑star reviews describing concerns about communication, cost, and follow-up after serious cases (including a colic call-out quote and a hospitalised foal outcome).

I have recently received an appalling service from B&W. I contacted the surgery as I was worried if my horse was presenting signs of Colic. It was in the evening and after being told that the callout would be £600, I made the decision to wait until the morning. I was made to feel neglectful and advised my horse could die over night. The vet came in the morning. My horse, no worse but no better. The vet was unfriendly and quite rude, making me feel i had done wrong in not having a vet out the previous evening. I pointed out to the vet, a rash on my horses nose, blood shot eyes, weight loss, overall decline and a recent bought of diarrhoea before a brief impacting. This was ignored and I was told I had been lucky and carry on as normal. I made a complaint about the treatment so far. A couple of weeks went past and my horse seemed worse and wouldn’t eat grass, Just hard feed and hay. I contacted another vet for a second opinion with my concern that he seemed to have all the symptoms of ragwort poisoning, sadly this was the case and his euthanasia was planned. At the same time I received a bill from B&W equine which was extremely high and for a completely pointless procedure. I contacted the surgery to inform them that I would not be paying the bill and gave an update on the situation with my horse. I was told I would be contacted by the end of the week. It is now 12 weeks later and B&W have not contacted me nor apologised for their total lack of care for my horse. They added more pain onto a time that was already horrific. B&W are a company that clearly put profit first and welfare second! B&W did not listen to me and allowed continued suffering of my horse ( and myself) B&W did not have the decency to contact me with an offer of an apology which is the least they could do. I think it is disgusting that they have just ignored me.

I had a thoroughbred Colt foal born at Byerley stud and the foal had its legs in the wrong position and couldn't stand at Birth. Despite signing forms to complete authorising care for my foal amd assuring them I would pay the estimated £5k to £7k bill the foal subsequently suffered a severered ligament whilst in their care and jad to be put down. Subsequently I received an invoice from them (sent twice within 10 mims) that ended up in my spam folder for some reason and which I didn't see for 2 days. On seeing it I made a £5k payment to them on account and said I would pay the balance in a few days but sent reply emails and asked if they could give a discount on the invoice considering the foal had to be put down whilst in their care. The emails for some reason that I sent via reply to the invoice email didn't go directly to them but was forwarded on by whoever processes the invoices for them. Anyway they haven't had the decency to respond to my emails and this is seriously annoying as all I want is a little common courtesy and consideration I also want to know why my foal suffered a life ending injury whilst in their care as I was assured that foals born with legs in the wrong position was a common occurrence and thay afyer 5 to 7 days of vet and equine hospital care all should be well with the foal and standing and nursing unaided and that it's long term career would be unaffected. On one of the forms completed before treatment began it asked me tp confirm that I had the dangers (extremely few and not serious) and likely prognosis (very good) explained to me which I had (verbally but not in writing) Had anyone bothered telling me that there was a likely risk of the foal having to be put down I would have saved myself thousands of pounds and a lot of anguish and not bothered with any treatment whatsoever. As such I cannot recommend these vets and equine hospital because they appear to me to be charging professional rates but behaving in a very unprofessional manner In summation I would say go to another equine hospital.and use other vets or use this lot at your own risk
