Richardson Equine Vets describes itself as an independent equine practice, providing care for horses and donkeys and offering 24/7, 365-day emergency cover (per the clinic website). The clinic is set up for both routine work and more investigative cases, with website-listed diagnostics including radiography, ultrasound and endoscopy, plus dentistry and lameness/poor performance investigations.
In the latest reviews available to us, owners repeatedly describe vets talking through options and likely outcomes (including end‑of‑life decisions), and giving practical management advice alongside clinical care (for example, reviewing a feeding regime and measurements). Some reviews refer to “Cheltenham Equine Vets,” which may indicate a naming/branding link or change; the input data here identifies the clinic as Richardson Equine Vets, so there is a name mismatch across sources.
Based on the clinic website and the written reviews available
Google rating: 4.9 stars from 28 reviews. - Owners repeatedly mention vets being quick to respond, including for urgent situations (for example, a visit for colic where the horse deteriorated before arrival).

My horse was scoped for ulcers yesterday by Becky and Jo. She had a very traumatic experience 5 years prior with a massive bleed. They were in contact with me beforehand with lots of advice and support. Its been an awful time at the yard as we lost two horses in two days and as I new owner, I was obviously very anxious. As well as being so professional, the kindness and care that they showed to both horse and owner went above and beyond. My horse was kept calm and stress free with no physical trauma. Thankfully no ulcers found but a plan has been put in place to identify issues with her abdomen, none of which is money making to a corporate vet. They looked at my feeding regime and helped me make sure the measurements were correct. I am so glad that she is under the care of Cheltenham Equine. Thank you so much

I recently called Cheltenham Equine Vets for my beautiful and very much loved mare who was just showing signs of mild colic. She had always appeared to be a very healthy happy horse and I thought that a couple of quick injections and a few kind words would be just the ticket to get her back to her usual cheerful self again. Chloe from Cheltenham Equine Vets arrived very quickly by which time the horse had deteriorated and was clearly suffering badly. The colic became severe and an examination by Chloe revealed a badly twisted gut and large tumours. Chloe clearly advised me of all the options available and her professional analysis of what the outcome was likely to be. We decided that the kindest thing was to put the horse to sleep; with Chloe's advice I feel in absolutely no doubt that this was the right decision and the kindest thing we could do for my horse. It was the most horrible shock and I had no preparation for loosing a horse I loved very much. However, with Chloe's gentle kindness and true professionalism, my horse quietly went to sleep with the warm sun on her body, the smell of fresh Spring grass and surrounded by birdsong. Thank goodness this incessant rain had stopped for a morning and the sun was warm. I was able to completely trust all of Chloe's decisions and just concentrate on being with my horse for her last minutes and I feel very lucky to have such a wonderful, caring and wise vet by my side that day

I apparently have missed “media” attention regarding vets so can only comment on my own experience with Cheltenham Vets who I find to be extremely interested in our problems and very quick to respond (even when on holiday)! Everything has gone up and quite obviously vets fees will have done as I am sure their expenses have! I have no complaints whatsoever and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending them to anyone!
